Back To Basics Toys was founded in 1988
by discerning parents who wanted their children to enjoy
the same quality of play that they remembered and cherished.
Favorite products and playthings triggered many happy memories
for both parents, but at first they figured classic toy
collecting would simply be a passion and hobby. Like many
young parents they felt they had their plate full juggling
"real jobs" and children, but their family and
friends convinced them to start a catalog company from the
basement of their house.
They didn't know much about the catalog
world, but they were quick studies and soon discovered that
many other people shared their vision and desire for nonviolent
toys with enduring play value. The catalog business was
attractive to the founders because it catered to busy parents
and could be supported by exceptional service that extended
beyond nine to five. A business was hatched on the belief
that the quality and value of a child's play experience
is directly related to the quality and values embodied in
the toys and playthings a child is given. And that a child's
mind can be stimulated, creativity fostered, imagination
expanded, hand-eye dexterity improved, and important life
skills learned with toys that provide pure, plain, and simple
fun.
